Fri., 13 September -- DAY 5

Unexpected Rest Day
Ellsworth to Rockland by bike became Ellsworth to Damariscotta by car

The sting on my foot made it uncomfortable (as I had feared) to wear my bike shoes. We decided to stop at Belfast to have a quick tune-up after the hard knocks on the Downeast Sunrise Trail.

Thank you to Chris at CG Bikes in Belfast for working me in on super short notice.
And a special thanks to Roy and Debbie Bell for sponsoring my tune-up.

Sometimes, these little unexpected diversions lead to wonderful experiences. After some trailer woes, we decided to head into Damariscotta to King Eider's Pub. Always enjoy a draft Smithwick's when we can find one. We love King Eider's and visit every time we're in the area. After dinner, we walked around a bit. There was a cool art car, and an opportunity for me to act a fool (no surprise there!).

  2. Thank YOU Chris. Bike's doing great. I also discovered one of the squeaks I kept hearing is actually a cleat/pedal noise. Hahaha. I may have never heard it before on training rides because there was always road noise. Some of these roads so far have been very quiet. Thanks again to you.
