Bourne to Fall River, MA
Let me add here that posting to one’s blog is dependent on available internet or cell service so one can use a phone as a hotspot. When there isn’t a post for a few days, that’s probably why!
Lots of cool sights today. The ride went around and over all sorts of water. Out of the campground, I was able to ride for a short distance on the Canal Trail. This was a cool bridge I saw from the Canal Trail.
Outside of New Bedford in Fairhaven, rode close enough to wind turbines to hear them. I have always heard about the noise, and that some people don’t like wind power because of the noise. Perhaps if I had to listen to it all the time, I wouldn’t like it, but it didn’t seem loud to me.
Going into New Bedford, I crossed the Acushnet River. The bridge had just started to turn as I approached. I love watching the way different bridges work. This is one where the middle section of the bridge turns perpendicular to the road in order to let the boats through.
A long harbor trail, and an even longer path that outlines Clarks Point. The path around Clarks Point and at Fort Rodman has one of those Solar System models that spreads out across a distance to scale with the scale of the planets. I first saw one of these in Presque Isle, Maine. The one there had larger planets and sun across a much larger distance. I had almost cut across one of the main roads to decrease the mileage, but something told me to ride on. I never would have seen the solar system model if I hadn’t continued on. I didn't photograph all of the planets, but they were all represented. (On one of the pictures, keep your snide comments to yourselves. You can’t possibly come up with as many of them as I have for myself.)
53.35 miles / 385.02
