South Berwick, Maine, to North Hampton Beach, New Hampshire
Thank goodness for flatter lands. I finally had a day where I averaged more than 10mph. If all riding days could be like this one, I might think I had died and gone to heaven. Beautiful scenery. Fun little sights. Friendly folks. And ocean vistas along 1A. Saw a one seater yellow airplane for sale in someone’s yard. I saw an old Rialta motorhome in someone’s yard. As I rode under an oak tree, a gust sent about 25 acorns down at once, a few pelting my helmet. It was exhilarating and funny, and I laughed out loud.
But the coolest thing was seeing the Memorial Bridge spanning Maine and New Hampshire raising. I had just ridden over it, and it looked as if they were preparing to let a sailboat through. I pulled in a nice Portsmouth, NH, waterfront park adjacent to the bridge as I heard the bridge alarms and the traffic arms lowering. What a remarkable engineering feat. I made a short video that shows how the center section raises.
This is our only overnight in New Hampshire. Doing the Harvest Hosts thing at Cisco Brewers. Boondocking. Harvest Hosts arranges with breweries, wineries, and farms to host one to four (or so) RV travelers. One parks on the property and agrees to spend at least $20 in their store or tasting or whatever is offered. The Cisco folks have been super nice.
Cisco is located in the building where Red Hook used to be in Portsmouth. They have a super outdoor "Beer Garden" and the space inside is nice (see pic). Lunch was wonderful. I enjoyed the draft Belgian, Grey Lady. Haddock sandwich and fries--Y-U-M. Can't wait for dinner. We might try one of their spirits in a cocktail.
Massachusetts tomorrow!
Update: Thurs, 19 Sept. I had already blogged when we went back in for dinner. Met Cisco's Pete Burke and talked about my blog as I ate my shrimp tacos and drank my delicious, spicy Bloody Mary (which has a different menu name) using their own horseradish vodka (hell yeah!). Pete picked up my Mary. It don't get no better'n'at, folks!
Here is a pic of Roxy there at the RV parking area at Cisco Brewers this morning.

Haddock sandwich is always a good choice. The acorn shower is classic autumn... They are EVERYWHERE! On to the Bay State. 😃
