Sun., 22 September -- DAY 14

Provincetown to Orleans, MA

It was foggy this morning. I rode the mile and a half to the ride start right in the heart of town, then onward. There were a couple of long off-road trails. This type of thing would make drivers and cyclists alike happy. That's what the East Coast Greenway is all about. Connecting as many of these paths as possible.

I erroneously rode up a steep hill instead of keeping on a hard-packed road which became one of the nice paths--the Meadow Trail. Took advantage of my error to catch a picture of the fog over the water, obscuring the land. The trail road is just below those trees in the foreground. The Meadow Trail is very aptly named. It runs along the meadow that ends at the dunes at the shore.

There were many cyclists out today. Beautiful, warm, sunny Sunday. When the path today wasn't off road, it was definitely more back roads. I had to stop, even though it meant starting back off on a hill, to get a pic of this great blue.

The last nine miles was on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Long, essentially flat, and loaded with users today. It was in the mid- to upper-70s when I finished in Orleans. I was hot, and we took advantage of the ice cream/coffee shop at the parking area where DL waited.

The campground tonight in Bourne is an interesting one. Large and has many seasonal folks. Essentially, there are some areas of the campground that are almost literally underneath parts of the bridge.

The Cape Cod Canal Trail runs along the campground, so I'll be able to ride in tomorrow afternoon, and out Tuesday morning. That is so much more convenient.

Now, I just had to snap this from the car window on the way back to the campground. Who doesn't love the Christmas Tree Shops? Right at the Sagamore Bridge.
