Sat., September 14 - DAY 6

Damariscotta to Wiscassett

Today was quite overcast with the threat of rain, though it wasn't expected until the afternoon. I overslept this morning, and started later than I had wanted. It was chilly and breezy. Honestly, I had dreaded the short ride. Mainly dreading hills that looked icky on the profile. But I have ridden much worse hills earlier in the week. These were more rolling than I had expected.

DL took this photo of me at the ride start. It is the first time I have used the pool noodle. Thank you Nerissa! I have no idea if it really made a difference, but I can tell you that 100% of the cars that approached me from behind went safely around me. So thanks to whatever contributed to that.

I had a light fixed to the side, but I have since added strips of DOT reflective tape instead.
Much lighter. We'll see how that works going forward.

There were beautiful yards and homesteads. I saw a llama and a kingfisher. On this Relive video, you'll see the short route, and I added two photos of spreads I believe face the Sheepscot River around Alna.

It was a nice ride, and to top it off, we stopped at Sprague's, across the street from Red's in downtown Wiscasset, for lobster rolls. DL is pictured holding our order number. I, of course, am acting the fool yet again. (Duh.)
