For those who are wondering how this starts. DL ferries me to Calais, Maine, Monday morning (9/9). I'll ride the East Coast Greenway route to Ayers Junction, where the Downeast Sunrise Trail starts. I'll jump onto that and finish out my 30-mile day. DL picks me up, and we head back to camp. It's pretty much like that every day.
The Downeast Sunrise Trail is a pretty interesting multi-use trail. It's basically gravel, hopefully mostly hard-packed, but that may determine how many miles I can ride on it. The trail appears to offer a wonderful opportunity for wildlife sightings. That is its main draw for me. This is a screen shot of one of the trail maps.
We are not expecting a lot of internet access Downeast. I decided to post something today to let everyone know that, yes, the trip is on. We're both ready to "hit the trail."
Thank you to everyone for your support. I feel it.
