Wed., 25 September – DAY 17

Swansea, MA to Coventry, Rhode Island / Dayville, Connecticut

This was a three-state day. Started in Massachusetts, rode through Providence, Rhode Island, and ended just in Coventry, Connecticut. Many of my miles were on bike pathways off of highways. Some were in bike lanes, or riverwalks.

As has been my usual routine, inside of cities, I get lost at least once. Lost isn’t exactly right, but I find it difficult to “continue onto A street canal path” when A street isn’t marked. Providence is a very bikeable city, and it is clear Rhode Island has put a good deal of money into its alternative transportation infrastructure. That being said, Providence was the first time I actually had someone yell at me from a car window. It did not sound as if he was cheering me on.

I took some photos from my other camera (not the iPhone). We did not bring the card reader, so I will have to find one. I’ll post an update, because I have a couple of cool shots from Rhode Island. UPDATE: Bought a card reader Friday 9/27. Put the camera’s card in, the card’s menu came up for a split second, then nothing. Put the card back in the camera, and presto, no images. Totally blank card. No pictures. Sorry.

In West Warwick, the Washington Secondary Bike Path passes over a bridge adjacent to the Bradford Soap Factory. The scent of clean wafted in the air as I passed.

37.99 miles / 423.01
